The economic recession has not discouraged Slovaks from spending their holidays in Slovakia and abroad, according to a recent survey carried out by the non-governmental Slovak Information Centres Association (AICES), the TASR newswire wrote.

According to the survey, 48 percent of Slovaks have chosen a holiday destination within Slovakia. Another 16 percent have also decided to travel to a domestic destination but haven't yet chosen the site, TASR wrote.

Holiday destinations abroad have been chosen by 17 percent of the Slovaks. Some 10 percent of Slovaks do not plan to travel anywhere during their holidays, while 9 percent have not made any decision.

AICES' aim is to support and protect the rights and interests of tourist information centres. It cooperates closely with the Slovak Tourist Board. Slovakia has a total of 124 tourist information centres. TASR
